Blood-Filled City

(Reflection on Ezekiel 22) 7/26/2002

Rapacious ward,

Its a pity

Lord’s drawn the sword,

Despite anointing,

We’re disappointing

Straying bad

Acting mad,

Forgetting there’s a judgment coming

Out on the stairs

Jackdaws humming,

Two ravens hung

One repentant

One full of pride,

Help us see

What we choose not,

And help us Lord to free,

Please untie this knot,

Not the one, covenant tied,

But the one forgetting,

Bridegroom and bride
