Australians In Indonesia: Danger

GLOBAL interACTION (formerly AUSTRALIAN BAPTIST MISSIONARY SOCIETY)

Special issue, 18 October 2002

The Australian Government has issued warnings regarding Australians living or travelling in Indonesia.

Ian Hawley, General Director of Global interAction, has been in touch today with all people linked to Global interAction who live in those areas, and all are safe and well. They sense no immediate threat.

Please pray that the Directors and the staff members will experience God’s wisdom regarding whether any or all of them should return home, either now or during coming days, for the sake of their physical safety and emotional wellbeing.

Pray for their safety, and that of their national colleagues for whom the threat is equally real.

Staff members of Global interAction generally are willing to live with a level of uncertainty because of their love for God and their commitment to caring for people. However Global interAction aims to avoid unnecessary or foolish risks.

The Directors will continue to monitor the situation very closely, and would value your ongoing prayer.

Pray also that the families and close friends of staff members living overseas will have peace of mind during this difficult time.
