Christianity ‘growing fast’ in communist-ruled Laos, church group told
Bangkok (ENI). Christianity in communist-ruled Laos is growing “despite heavy odds”, an ecumenical delegation visiting the Southeast Asian nation has been told. “Once viewed as agents of the West” by the communist government, churches are now “growing fast”, the executive president of the Lao Evangelical Church, the Rev. Khamphone Kouthapanya, told the ecumenical team from the Geneva-based World Council of Churches. [490 words, ENI-03-0099]
