“He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth?Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalms 46:9-10)
Dear Friends, It is still not too late to pray that the crisis with Iraq will be solved peacefully. A war would result in the loss many lives, many of whom would be from the half of the population that are children under 15 years of age. Most likely there would also be an exodus of hundreds of thousands of refugees as Iraqis seek to flee the war zone for surrounding nations.
Please pray for the following:
1. That the “logic of peace” will prevail over the “logic of war” and that the growing momentum towards war will be restrained and stopped.
2. For a sense of consensus to be restored to the members of the U.N. Security Council and that all of them will respect the rule of international law.
3. That Saddam Hussein and Iraq will heed the growing international and military pressure to disarm in accordance with the U.N. resolutions to this effect.
4. For World Vision’s efforts: · Ongoing building of relief preparedness by prepositioning staff and supplies in surrounding areas to which refugees are likely to flee in the event of war. · A generous response from donors for adequate resources to meet the potentially immense relief needs that may occur. · Wisdom in logistical planning and partnering with other agencies and institutions. · Protection for staff, some of whom could be subjected to the dangers of chemical or biological weapons if war breaks out.
Warmly in Christ, John Robb WVI
