"Our age needs saints more than it needs brilliant scientific discoveries, advanced technologies, canny politicians, scintillating preachers, awesome atheletes, and so many other things people count crucial today. Our age needs people who can put before us lives and embarrassing invitation we must accept or reject." (E. Glenn Hinson in "Weavings," May/June 1996)

A Definition of Spirituality Provided By Henri Nouwen: "The spiritual life is reaching out to our innermost self, to our fellow human beings and to our God. We are called to reach out with courageous honesty to our innermost self, with relentless care to our fellow human beings, and with increasing prayer to our God."
