Apologetics

Apologetics and world-view (one opinion)

From a netfriend:

It is a worry when we evaluate truth by why and how we came by it. The Bible was written by sexist men [therefore it must not be totally true]

I believe my worldview because people I love taught me it. I am forced to disbelieve my worldview because hypocrites hold to it.

Are such old-fashioned ideaIs as logic, truth, evidence, assumptions tested by experience, etc without a place in the post-modern mind? Can we not believe a truth that wicked people advocate if the truth is true? Or disagree with someone’s teaching even if they’re awfully nice people? Truth must rise somewhat above relativism. Otherwise we find ourselves only reading the authors we agree with, and only listening to speakers whose credentials satisfy us. Many in our churches have such a closed approach. Honest truth-seekers can surely be more objective.
