AIDS orphans and street kids benefit from “Bethel Village” Uganda (MNN)–According to recent findings, one in five adults across southern Africa are now living with HIV/AIDS and therefore the number of orphans continues to increase. Global efforts to deal with this epidemic are inadequate. In Uganda, Rashid Luswa is partnering with others to help reach out to the orphan street chidlren. He says the ministry started as a one aspect ministry with a ranch and then eventually evolved into “Bethel Village.” He says they have all those kids within their home setting and are putting up a school. The working ranch provides a source of food and income. Luswa also works with Worldwide Christian Schools[1] to construct and operate a school where Biblical teachings can change lives. Uganda is such a free country in terms of Gospel reception in the fact that you have this ministry behind you opens up doors to be able to reach the community with the word of God and it’s been such a beautiful arrangement. A children’s home provides hope in Ghana. Ghana (MNN)–Next, the spiritual fight in Ghana continues. Islamic influence is being countered by growing evangelistic groups. Every Child Ministries’[3] Lorella Rouster says the atmosphere is ripe for their work at the “Haven of Hope” children’s home. “We have 25 children there, right now, and we are working on doubling the capacity within the next two years. I don’t know where we’ll stop. God will tell us that. It is right now celebrating its first anniversary.” Every Child Ministries emphasizes showing the love of Jesus to the neediest of African children in practical ways and using African nationals to train their own people. Rouster says they need a lot of support. “We could really use help with providing solar power to the home. We have no electricity there at all. The children are using kerosene lanterns and I’m always afraid that when they get up in the night, they’re going to tip those things over and start a fire.” Full Story: http://mnn.gospelcom.net/article/5395
A new approach lends to effective training for sharing the Gospel International (MNN)– OC International[4] is using a new method to help instruct inner-city leadership teams further the Gospel message. Spokesman Daniel Oh says he is using life-based mentoring instead of curriculums. Oh says I approach people, churches, organizations with life-on-life and through asking questions, discerning and drawing out from within their passions, experiences, strengths, resources, etc. I help them to design a process that’s necessary for development, capacity building, mentoring, coaching or mission mobilization area, etc. One frustration is that the curriculum-based approach already has a set agenda, which may or may not meet the true needs of the people. It’s a set curriculum that is applied in every setting where as if it’s a life-based mentoring approach you are basically going with an open mind and heart to listen to the leading of the spirt and try to design a process that is appropriate, culturally relevant, as well as meeting the true needs of the recipients. Ministry in Senegal takes on new life. Senegal (MNN)–Meanwhile, foreign missionaries first went to this Islamic country in 1830, but produced very few converts. Indigenous ministry, Life Missions International, began in 1990, and hundreds of Senegalese are now disciples of the Lord Jesus. According to Christian Aid Mission[5] , fifteen men have been trained as missionaries and many more desire training. Their heart’s cry is to reach the lost. Pray for $30,000 needed to set up a School of Discipleship and Missions that will also include surrounding countries. Full Story: http://mnn.gospelcom.net/article/5391
Mission Aviation serves as a key help to global missions. International (MNN)–And, Mission Aviation Fellowship[6] says this year has been a good one for helping. Their pilots logged over three million miles, and delivered over four million pounds of cargo on rough dirt and grass airstrips. This year, MAF supported staff who provided critical services to isolated villages and remote regions, allowing Scripture translation projects to move forward. Looking ahead, they are planning involvement with nearly 25-percent more Scripture translation projects. Please pray. Full Story: http://mnn.gospelcom.net/article/5389
