Missions & Evangelism

Reaching New Agers

Hello Douglas,

Rowland Croucher sent us your email enquiry regarding how to deal with the New Age scene at Asheville NC. MaryBeth and I have been working with NA people for about 5 years. We are part of a team called The Community of Hope here in Australia. We find that the best "warfare" is missionary love. This means having a heart to reach these people by incarnating Jesus amongst them. It involves a humble walk and talk with the people to find where they are at and then sharing your spiritual journey with them as to how Jesus fulfills their deepest longings. This is basically what we mean by "incarnational mission", and seems the best way to share the gospel with NewAgers, who are actually under the broader umbrella of postmodern culture, which has pretty well permeated western society.

We can send some printed material explaining more clearly COH's activities, as well as a list of email addresses of our national coordinaters and others involved in COH, and also some websites to check out (some of these can be a little overwhelming at first to the ordinary Christian who is not used to thinking of incarnational missions. Unfortunately COH does not have its own website yet).

You will find a wealth of information and links at: http://www.sacredtribes.com, although it may be a bit daunting if you are not used to this sort of thing. This site includes a couple of people in the USA as well as here in Australia. You can contact them from the site. Check it out and get back to us.

Bless you, and keep in touch,
