One netfriend asked: What is wrong with the books; Nancy Drew The Hardy Boys Why would you, as christians, exclude them? I know you exclude the Harry Potter books because of Magic being involved, which is understandable. But, why exclude Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys? Another responded: Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys books teach that children should investigate evil but the bible tells us to shun it, or to avoid it. Scooby Do uses this same ploy to reach the children of this generation for the occult as the Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys books did for our parents generation. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about. And another: ***oh for the love of pete....sigh. Police investigate evil...should they avoid it too? Sorry but that concept seems very ostrich-like to me...as in putting your head in the sand and hoping it all goes away. I.M.O Bren. ps. I can just see the perp telling the police..."Scooby Doo made me do it!" And another: I know a person who thought that Oscar the Grouch was satanic because he liked mud. It's sad, the degree to which an irrational fear of shadows like that can override clear thinking. I read most of the HB books as a kid, and intend to get the full set of Hardy Boys books for my kids. The stories are fun for people of that age, and guaranteed tame (no drugs, sex, so forth).
