Homsexuality: A Conservative Response

Hi Ninure.

First let me tell you how much I have enjoyed a lot of your posts. They show a desire and love for the Lord, that is an excellent thing. Please continue to post this uplifting material.

I felt, though, a need to respond to your post. Please do not take this as gay bashing, as it is not. I do have at least one friend that has been homosexual all of his life. He even became saved, renounced his homosexuality for the Lord, and developed a healthy relationship with a young lady in the church he was attending. However, the people of the church, would not let him forgive his past, he left the church, his girlfreind, the Lord, and went back to his old ways.

Do I feel that homosexuality is an illness, a choice? I don’t know. But one thing we can know is that it is sin. I am not going to spend a lot of time on trying to convince you of this, as many others have tried in the past, and you have rejected all attempts to show you your error.

It has become politically correct to teach in the modern church to turn a blind eye to sin. We cover it up with so-called scientific fact. The true fact is that scientists know no more about why a person in gay, than they did fifty years ago. We can quote all the sorces that we want to make us seem right in our own eyes. The Word of God tells us what is acceptable, and what is not. In our heart of hearts we know right from wrong. Our modern day teaches, “If it feels good, do it!” and that has entered into the church. It is sad really, I sure Christ weeps. I do.

So many important issues are ignored. Purity, the need for repentance, and avoidance of sin. It is taught, “We sin any way, and only the Lord can stop us from sinning, so if we are to get rid of our sin, God will deliver us.” Paritioners and fellow pastors, don’t want to rock the boat, don’t want to face the truth. Sin is sin. You can white wash it all you want. Sin is sin. Call it what you will, excuse it however it will, sin is sin. God cannot abide by sin. He is a perfect and holy God. He calls us to be holy too. Dedicated to Him. We are called to purity, including sexual purity.

Even if what you believe were true. Paul tells us that if anything we do causes others in Christ to stumble, we are better not to do it. There is too much political maneuvering in the church today. To many people are backing up and letting the devil have his way. The people of God, at least in North America, are so wishy washy, and is so many cases, so mislead, that no one wants to take a stand for the truth. The truth is that we are called to be a seperate people. Sexual sin is not for us. We are to avoid sin of all kinds. Paul tells us especially to flee sexual sin. While you may want to stand for what you believe in, you can neither back it up scripturally, nor by nature. My 8 year old son, when faced with a homosexual couple for the first time, knew that it was not natural. And you cannot claim that it was taught, the topic had never needed to be broached before in my home.

Anyway. You’ve heard it all before. I just get so tired of hearing all the time, “Oh a loving God will understand my need for .” and the oh-so-many justifications used by Christians today for their disobedience. The sad thing is, if all Christians were in tune with the Holy Spirit, these discussions would not even occur within the body of Christ. We would simply be obedient.

I would like to leave you with a couple of questions, though.

1) Why exactly, if it was spoken against in levitical law, is it all okay now. And don’t give me any nonsense about being under grace and not under law. These laws are given as examples of things to avoid, a way to live holy lives.

2) Why when you have been called on it so many times have you not changed your sig file. Even if you don’t believe it is a sin, it is obvioiusly causing problems for others who may not be saved, and therefore is a bad thing.

God Bless.

Tom.
