It is not a proof of God's existence.

In Romans 1 Paul uses the Causal or Cosmological Argument for God's existence. It is an argument from origins / design. Look at the universe ... it must have come from somewhere ... it came from God.

It doesn't work for the following reasons:

1. Although it may establish a deity it says nothing about the type or

nature of the deity. It would work equally as well for Zeus or a little green alien as YHWH.

2. It leads to an infinite regress. If the universe is made by God then who made God? The God above God. Who made the God above God? The God above the God above God. etc ad infinitum. (This is one reason

why God is NOT "A being" but rather the Ground of all being.)

3. How do we know everything has a cause? From experience. Experience tells us nothing about causality in the non-empirical world. Even in the empirical realm experience is based on induction and deduction and both are logically faulty for any absolute claim in all areas of past, present and future.
