Creationism And Science

CS: [Creationism] THE FACT THAT THIS IS NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF MAINSTREAM THEOLOGY. Neither, of course is, or has ever been, darwinism or evolution. :-)

MT: Darwinism (now superseded) and evolution never were THEOlogies dealing with God … they are both scienftific theories. Science progresses in knowledge and explanation. Creationism uses selected items out of context to prove an already held belief system. Creationism is not published in any recognised scientific journal in Australia. Science is debate by scientists in academic journals (as the ‘man is millions of years old’ would be if it is science.) Creationism is debated by fundamentalists and no-one else. Ian Plimer has exposed the fraud connected with many of the most important figures in Creationism.

CS: Mainstream theology proclaims God exists and created. Science >does not. Therein lies the real problem.

MT: Why is it a problem? Science does not investigate theological beliefs. The problem is with the religious belief of Creationism (a psuedo-science) being extolled in some fundamentalist churches as science. ‘Creation Science’ in Australia changed its name to ‘Answers in Genesis’ which is now a little closer to the truth … except there are no scientific answers in Genesis as it is not a science book but a book about God. The creation myths in Genesis are not factual history. Creationism is not a science but a belief in the literal interpretation of the Genesis myths that were in part borrowed from other cultures. Creationism is as worthy of scientific study as Babylonian astrology.
