Creationism – More

‘Scientists mistakenly believe they have disproved God’s existence and His creation and have thus made null and void all faith communities which express a belief in the Divine Creator, not the least Christianity.

Chris Ho-Stuart wrote:

I consider this to be a misrepresentation.

Science itself is a discipline shared by many people of many different beliefs.

Does “Music” proclaim God exists and created? No — but some musicians do, and others do not.

Does “Mathematics” proclaim God exists and created? No — but some mathematicians do, and others do not.

Does “Athletics” proclaim God exists and created? No — but some athletes do, and others do not.

Does “Science” proclaim God exists and created? No — but some scientists do, and others do not.

I think you would be hard pressed to identify any scientist who believes they have disproved God’s existence and His creation with science. You will find — as you will in just about ANY group of individuals — that there are scientists who do not believe in God. A small number — Richard Dawkins springs to mind — feel that science has helped make God less plausible. Most don’t give it a thought. The methods of science make no untoward assumptions or requirements which are incompatible with belief.

The problem is exclusively with what is DISCOVERED by science; which is basically incompatible with a view of the first eleven chapters of Genesis as a literal history. Some Christians elevate that into rejection of God and of creation — and thus THEY set up the conflict between faith and science, such as it is.

I have one question, to which I have never received an answer from a creationist which I find satisfying.

Do you believe *I* am a created being? Do you accept the teaching of the bible, as given by the Psalmist: “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb” Did God make *me*?

And then… does the science associated with developmental biology and embryology deny that I am God’s creation?

Cheers — Chris
