EACH-WAY A bet that depends on your selection running first, second or third.

QUINELLA To pick the first two placegetters in any order.

EXACTA To pick the first two placegetters in the correct order.

BOLTER A horse considered to have no chance.

GOOD THING A horse that should win.

UNLUCKY A horse that did not win.

LEGLESS Has various meanings at carnival time, but generally indicates a horse has little chance.

YOUR SHOUT You’ve just won.

HORSE Generally big and brown with four legs, and no respect for your money.
