Theology

Biblical Inerrancy

The doctrinal statement from a website reads:

"The Bible alone, and the Bible in its entirety, is the Word of God written and is therefore inerrant in the autographs. God is a Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each an uncreated person, one in essence, equal in power and glory."

To which Ken Smith responded:

Whenever someone I'm talking to makes a comment about "the autographs" I say "So that Bible in your hands contains errors? Can you show me some of them?" - or sometimes I ask if they can provide me with a copy of these "autographs" to compare with the printed Hebrew and Greek I have at home.

This usually stops them abruptly. They simply haven't thought about the implications of the word "autographs", but are just using it as a rhetorical device.

I've got myself into strife with more than one Baptist minister by asking why in so many places in the NT the Septuagint, rather than the Hebrew, is quoted as "scripture".

Salaam

Ken Smith
