In a newsgroup article someone wrote: Now the question remains – will the UN Security Council have the good sense to create a strong resolution against Iraq, or will a US-led coalition need to disarm Iraq…
To which another responded: What a pathetic euphemism for mass-murder and destruction …. “disarm”…
And another:
Well, I could have quoted Richard Armitage and said “disarm or destroy”.
Then:
…now the question remains… will the US finally understand that they are creating terrorism with their military oppression throughout the world?
And this response:
The question remains – will you ever understand Geopolitics?
The only reasons the Russians, French and Chinese are against a strong resolution with the threat of war attached to it are as follows:
1) Russia is owed a boatload of money by Iraq, dating back to the Soviet Era
2) Russia and France want to get their hands on Iraqi oil
3) China sells weapons to Iraq.
The US on the other hand, want to ensure US Oil companies make a friggin’ fortune from oilfields in the Caspian, as well as having better business deals with a new Iraqi government (if possible).
The US government would also like to destroy Saddam’s secret caches of chemical and biological weapons he hid from inspectors last time.
