There appears to be no record of the death of the philosopher Descartes, who was famous for his statement: “I think, therefore I am!”
The best explanation appears to come from an episode at a tavern, where Descartes and his confreres were sinking a few not so quiet ones. When Descartes ordered another round of drinks, the barman replied: “I think, Mr Descartes, that you have had too many alreday!”
To which Descartes replied: “I think not!”
And he was never seen or heard of again!
