Even though Asian faces now account for about one in ten of the Australian population, there has NEVER been a presenter with Asian features on many of the commercial television networks in Australia in the 30 years since Equal Employment Legislation was introduced. There are no Asian journalists in the mainstream print media, and no Asian identities in radio. Both sides of politics have had a fair share of government over the last 30 years and have said nought about racial representation on television. Racism is rigorously policed in the workforce, and the mainstream media regularly report on it. Yet the mainstream media is exempt from regulation.
