Trinity Blessing

My name is Megan Dunn and I attend Pilgrim Uniting Church, Doncaster, http://www.pilgrimuca.org.au where I actively participate in church committees, Young Adults Ministry and planning for our 10.45am contemporary worship. I am 22 years old and enjoy movies, theatre, and anything musical! I work in PR.

I wrote the Blessing in March 2000 after using 'For You Deep Stillness' (NCYC '99 fame) as our Sending Out song. It was earlier that year that I was beginning to search for a new song.

I wanted a song that was easy to teach, and easy to sing, and the easiest option at the time seemed to be to write my own! As We Leave Now was the product of that, and it leaves us with a gentle, flowing, repetitive Blessing that can be used with any accompaniment or none at all.

We have found the Blessing most effective when it is the very last thing in the service, and it can be sung three or four times, at which point the congregation can feel free to leave, or chat, and the accompanist can continue to play, as the words are "May God walk with us.". It is essentially a Sending Out song! I would advise that piano could be used, and perhaps flute or saxophone.

I think the song is fairly appropriate for Trinity Sunday, but it is also a song that churches could adopt as a regular Blessing. If you would like the sheet music please email me.

Enjoy!

As We Leave Now (Trinity Blessing)

As we leave now

May God walk with us

As we move from here

May Jesus bless us

As we leave this place

Let the Spirit breathe through us

Repeat x 2
