Questions About Homosexuality And Other Levitical Laws

"Netfriend" wrote (and Mark responded - you can figure who-said-what):

Q1 If we accept homosexuals because they are born that way will we have to accept paedophiles as well?

No. An illogical argument based on the supposed congruency between homosexuality and paedophilia which does not exist. This supposed congruency needs to be proved in order for the argument to work..

MTQ 1: Should homosexuals like Oscar Wilde be jailed? Why?

Many of them make the same claim.

Immoral behaviour that harms others (paedophilia) is different from moral sexual orientation which harms no-one and incorporate acts of love.(homosexuality).

MTQ 2: Hitler claimed to be a Christian. Should we accept his claim? Why / Why not?

Q2. If God made your brother gay did he also give him AIDS?

No. God is not a mean bastard.

Did God make AIDS?

If we live and move and have our being in God then all is ultimately created by God including pain, suffering and evil.

HIV / AIDS is NOT God's judgemnnt on anyone. It should be pointed out that many heterosexual people (including babies) also have this disease.

If so why?

The problem of evil, pain and suffering has not been sufficiently answered by anyone.

Q3 If the laws given to Moses are not to be used any more than is it okay to commit adultery now? Or incest? ... Are these now acceptable behavior? If not why not?

This is absolutist thinking that thinks the answer lies in "the bible or nothing". The real world of ideas is made up of shades of grey. The answer lies in the study of ethics which cannot be answered in one sentence.

These are all written in the same part of the moral laws as man lying with man as he does with woman.

MTQ 3: I note your interpretation does not include lesbianism. Why?

MTQ 4: Have you sinned by eating rabbit, pork, shellfish (Leviticus 11:4, 7, 10)? MTQ 5: Have you sinned by wearing clothes made of two types of material (Leviticus 19:19; Deuteronomy 22:11)?

MTQ 6: Have you sinned by cutting your hair (Leviticus 19:27)?

These are all written in the same part of the law as your isolated bible verses.

MTQ 7: As Paul said, you take ONE law as important to follow then you must take ALL laws as important to follow. Why do you pick and choose which laws to follow when the bible says that you cannot do so?
