From a netfriend:
Alas, I’m not quite so happy with Archbishop Williams this time, although I’ve given him considerable “benefit of the doubt” up to now. It seems to me he’s doing what I’ve previously dubbed the “waffle-walk and the crab-crawl”, on the basic topic of simple justice for gay Christians — whose only apparent “moral defect” is that they happen to be non-heterosexual human beings. Yes, he’s in a dire political situation; but I’m afraid I now see him beginning to retreat from the “moral high ground” he had espoused in his prior career as one of the AC’s most respected contemporary theologians — and doing it for the sake of institutional expediency.
