Dear friends

Is it ever right to create human life, simply to destroy it, and cannibalise it for body parts or research? That in essence is what much embryo research is about. Democrat Senator Stott-Despoja has introduced a bill to this effect, and Liberal Senator Kay Patterson is due to do the same soon.

Embryonic stem cell research, like abortion, involves the destruction of a small member of the human race. Thus both are examples of bad medicine and unethical science. Both need to be opposed.

Two new resources can be used here in our fight for life. On the cloning front, David van Gend has a great new website which has stacks of important info that we can use as we put in submissions, write letters and lobby politicians (more on this in a future email). On the abortion front, there are many places to look. Yesterday I was asked by an emailer if anyone had written up a discussion on the parallels between modern day abortion and ancient child sacrifice. I replied that I had a PowerPoint talk to that effect. But his email spurred me on to turn it into a proper article. While there are many excellent bioethics websites in the US and overseas, there are far fewer in Australia. The sites listed here are some of the best pro-life bioethics websites in Australia. While there are many dozens of small right to life groups in Australia, this listing applies mainly to general bioethics websites which are pro-life, or to some of the major pro-life groups. In addition, many of the pro-family organisations also have good pro-life material on their sites. And my own website has a collection of articles on bioethics and pro-life issues.
