Peace is the deliberate adjustment of my life to the will of God. There is no real peace anywhere else. God's service is perfect freedom and there is no other freedom.
A friend wrote a sad - and honest poem about 'love without striving'. He was in his 30s, single, and had failed to find the right partner. He was 'seeking, looking, traveling; seeking but not finding; looking but not seeing; traveling without arriving.'
'Peace, security, happiness' [was like] 'holding wet soap: the harder you hold it, the more easily it slips away.' So the secret is to seek 'love without striving, peace without struggling,
security without toiling...'
As Desiderata expresses it, Go placidly amid the noise and haste, (and remember what peace there may be in silence).
Lord, help me to 'let go and let God'. May I learn the secret of the saints, who trust without fretting. Amen.
May the God of peace... make you complete. Hebrews 13:20.
