I've just finished reading a great but fairly long article called "Pearls Before Breakfast." It's from the Washington Post, about Joshua Bell's busking trick in the Washington Metro last January. Bell is one of the world's leading violinists. He spent 45 minutes playing some of the greatest classical violin pieces while over 1000 commuters went straight past, though he did pick up about $37 in donations. Three nights earlier he had filled a theatre when the cheapest seats had gone for $100!
