Louis not only survived the horrific ordeal of falling over 60 feet in her car, but-when she called on Jesus - she experienced peace in the midst of the turmoil. The following is Louis' testimony of God's supernatural protection, in her own words: "I was coming down Washington St., and took the entrance onto 35 W and the bridge, I went three-fourths of the way across, when things started to ripple-like a domino effect." "It was rather scary, I felt like we had an earthquake! I looked in my mirror and saw [the pavement] split - the road went straight up in the air about 30 feet. A person in a car at the top started to fall backwards, and then my car began going down. I said, 'Wow, there's a big hole here and I don't know where I'm going to go.' Then I yelled, 'Jesus!'" "The next thing I knew, there was a big loud 'thump' and my air-bag hit me in the face. I looked around and I was at the bottom, 60 feet lower. I was wondering what happened, and realized that I was still alive. I looked out my window and there was a truck next to me with a car underneath it, and a car on the other side of the pavement sitting up about 60 feet." "I got out and wondered what I should do next. I wasn't bleeding or anything; I just had a backache and a headache. The first response was really fast, a fireman came down, he told me, 'If you're ok, you can just leave.' So I went down a service road, and a couple of college kids were there, one girl took my hand and walked with me up to University Ave." Louis went to the hospital and had numerous CT scans, but the only thing the doctors could find was a compressed fracture on her 8 and 9 vertebrae. "All I can say is 'praise God' because He spared me-to walk away from that...," says Louis. "I can't even believe it happened, but I actually walked away. It happened very quickly, and the Lord just gave me perfect peace. I had peace, and then when I said 'Jesus,' I felt like He took over and took care of me," she added. There were four people in vehicles in that particular area of the collapse, and Louis and a truck driver walked away. As far as the experience being a terrifying one, Louis says, "Well, I just think with the Lord it wasn't. I just had peace through the whole thing. And later my daughter-in-law told me her friend was driving through there the day before, and felt compelled to pray for that area. She was just impressed to be praying over that place. And then my friend from Ohio told me, in the last few weeks she'd been praying for me a lot. I thought, 'Wow, praise God for all the prayers.'" Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Terrance Gainer said, "Given the world situation and a recently released snippet from al-Qaeda threatening to attack Washington, we're just being a tad more vigilant if that's possible." Senate Minority Whip Trent Lott (R-Miss.) ominously advised that Congress needed to pass changes to terrorist surveillance laws before leaving for the August recess and warned that otherwise "the disaster could be on our doorstep." Counterterrorism expert Juval Aviv believes that an Al Qaeda attack on several American cities is likely within the next ninety days. Aviv states, "I predict, based primarily on information that is floating in Europe and the Middle East, that an event is imminent and around the corner here in the United States. It could happen as soon as tomorrow, or it could happen in the next few months. Ninety days at the most." Another indication that an attack on the United States may be in the works is the release of a new Al-Qaeda video titled, "Wait for the Big Surprise." The video shows a digitally altered image of President Bush and Pakistani President Musharraf engulfed by flames with the White House burning in the background. Despite the fact there has not been a major terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11, Aviv's remarks and this new Al Qaeda video remind us that the enemy has not retreated and still desires to inflict great harm on the United States. Other American intelligence agencies have recently suggested that Al Qaeda operatives are in the United States and are waiting for the right time to strike again. Whilst a terrorist attack may be being planned prayer can thwart or change those plans. Australian Intercessors are therefore encouraged to join their American counterparts to pray that the hand of God would stay the hands of the enemy not only against America but in all nations under threat, including our own. That was not the case five years ago, when her left hand mysteriously became paralysed. "I am a fifth generation Christian but I really hadn't met God," said the 24-year-old. "People told me I should pray for healing." So, every day for two years, Lee attended the Auckland Methodist Church Korean congregation prayer meetings. "I knew I had to have 100 percent faith in God so He would heal my hand," she said. Then the church had a three-night rally in which a Korean pastor with a gift for healing spoke. Says Lee: "The pastor said people's pain would be healed if they had faith in God. I thought 'yes, my hand will be healed'. Then I felt something like electricity in my arm and the pain disappeared. I tested it by lifting a Bible, which would normally have hurt, and it wasn't painful." Since that day, the pain has gone, returning only a little in wet weather, but Miss Lee says she was taught a powerful lesson through her ordeal. "I didn't have a strong faith in God because everything in my life had gone well up to then," she said. "God used that experience to teach me that He wanted me to use my musical gift for Him and not for myself." Today, Miss Lee gives solo performances in churches and universities, finishing each performance with the testimony of her healing. "The young people come because they have never seen anyone play an electric violin," she said. "They say 'Wow!' Then I give my testimony and people are very moved by it." "We each take the celebration of the Holy Eucharist very seriously. This deliberate action is a poignant reminder of the brokenness of the Anglican Communion. It makes clear that the torn fabric of the church has been torn further. It is a consequence of the decision taken by our provinces to declare that our relationship with the Episcopal Church is either broken or severely impaired," the primates said in a statement. The statement was signed by Archbishops from Nigeria, Singapore, Kenya, West Africa, Uganda, the Southern Cone of the Americas, and Rwanda. This is the second time that the primates, who believe homosexuality to be contrary to Scripture, have snubbed a Eucharist during a primates' meeting. The first was during a meeting held in 2005 in Dromantine, Northern Ireland. In explaining their boycott of the Eucharist, the primates said, "Scripture teaches that before coming to sit with one another at the Table we must be reconciled ...We have made repeated calls for repentance by The Episcopal Church leadership with no success. We continue to pray for a change of heart. We are unable to come to the Holy Table with the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church because to do so would be a violation of scriptural teaching and the traditional Anglican understanding." "Yes, New Zealand is a Christian country. Not a country entirely populated by Christians-it never has been that-but a country deeply founded and grounded in the beliefs and ethics that spring from the founding Christian teachings and values" said one respondent. "While not every New Zealander is Christian, this is fundamentally a Christian nation. Government, the legal system, hospitals and society were founded on and adhere to Christian principles - for this we should be truly thankful to God" said another. A third respondent said "A country can be Christian in name only but not in practice as is sadly evident in NZ. However laws based on Biblical principles have proved to be the best because they are based on the great love of God for the world and which is the unknowing basis generally practiced in humanitarian needs." "Yes, New Zealand is a Christian country and we shouldn't forget it. One doesn't have to be a practising Christian to accept its doctrines and tenets." another claimed. The religious leaders emphasized the many difficulties young families are already facing, without the added burden of a society that does not value the institution of marriage. The statement says, among other things, that the traditional institution of marriage is the basic foundation of society and that the family, as the "foundational reference of humanity," is an essential institution that "cannot be subjected to the fluctuations of currents of thought. It is situated beyond religious differences or ideological divisions. It is a lie to pretend that it is indifferent for a child to grow with or without a father and mother." The French government has also issued a report saying that homosexual 'marriage' and adoption by homosexual couples should not be permitted by law, a decision based primarily on concerns about the impact such legislation would have on the welfare of children.
