> Who is He? Can you explain that to me in terms that would be clear to an > unbeliever? You have asked for terms that would be clear to an unbeliever, so I have avoided technical terms and jargon as much as possible. Jesus is a man who lived about 2000 years ago. Those who met him, who heard him preach and teach, and who saw him perform acts of healing believed him to be the Son of God. He was executed as a criminal, but his followers experienced his presence amongst them after his death, especially when they met to break bread together as he had told them to do when they last shared a meal. The Christian religion is based on the teachings of Jesus - which he himself summed up as "Love God with all your heart, mind and spirit, and love your neighbour (meaning your fellow human being) as yourself", and on faith that he is the Son of God whose life, death and rising again authenticates what he said and did, and gives us hope that we too can share in what he promised. By living according to his teachings, Christians find their own lives are blessed, and so are the lives of those around them. Jesus also promised that through faith in him we would have a life of peace and joy beyond the grave, and Christians live in the expectation of that promise. [Nigel Mitchell]
