'The last aborigene "hunt" was in North-Western Australia in 1929. Instigated by an aboriginal male objecting to a white male raping his wife. He was supposed to stand by and watch, apparently. He speared the white man and the couple left. The locals, led by the police, went on a hunt and killed a number of aborigenes (all they met). A few years ago I had a discussion with a young man whose great-grandmother was the only surviving member of his family after that event. I found it hard to believe he was not bitter.

No white man was charged, arrested, or even got a good talking to.'
