Psalm 18:28 /"For You light my lamp; The Lord God illumes my darkness"/ Very rarely are we in darkness. In today's modern age of electricity, we don't darkness is not a difficulty. However, in David's time, darkness was a time of fear, a time of uncertainty. It is known by historians that, in ancient Egypt, there was a custom for everyone to keep their homes lit with oil lamps during the night. Even the poorest of people would rather be hungry than to be without lamps lighting their homes continuously during the night. In this Psalm we find David comparing his Love for God to a lamp. His desire for God's love took priority over any other need in his life. God provided him with a continuous light that burned throughout all of the darkness in his life. Can God light your candle today?
