* Work in its different forms,is mentioned more than eight hundred times in the Bible;of the 132 public appearances of Jesus,122 were in the market place;of 52 parables,45 are in a workplace context".

# In Australia 21 workers die each day from work-related incidents or diseases,1890 are injured or made ill each day and one in seven workers are exposed to at least one cancer causing substance in their workplace. # At the end of the day in which you read this note 1 million workers around the world will suffer a workplace accident;every 15 seconds a worker dies from a work related accident or disease.

Around the world 28 April is commemorated by communities,unions,churches,workers and their families as a time to remember and mourn for those who have been killed or injured at work,and to fight for the living.
