I find James Alison’s insights and writings brilliant on this subject. An example: “Of all the many ludicrous things which we have got up to as humans and as Christians over the last couple of millennia, surely to have got ourselves in a mess over the theological status of gay people must qualify as one of the most ridiculous…My own hunch is that God IS revealing to us that gay people, just as we are,are part of humanity and that it is as such that we are invited to share in the party. But I may entirely wrong. Nevertheless of this I am sure: that being right or wrong is not so very important. Being so grateful to be invited at all that I am quite determined to be as warm, charitable and friendly as I can learn how to be towards those who completely disagree with me is terribly, terribly important: for it by this that I will be judged” (Undergoing God, p.169).
