“On the topic of authority coming from God (Romans 13), I think the misuse of this verse was sharply dealt with in 1649.
God gives authority, but how it is used is a different question!
Remember that Peter and John refused to acknowledge the authority of the Sanhedrin when it thought to usurp God’s authority and coerce their consciences.”
