Clergy/Leaders' Mail-list No. 0-138 (Practical Christian Living) by David Virtue "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7 Bulstrode Whitlock was born in London on August 6, 1605. During Cromwell's rebellion, he provided Cromwell with financial support and diplomatic advice. After Cromwell became leader of the nation (in 1649), Bulstrode was appointed Ambassador to Sweden. The early years of Cromwell's reign were turbulent ones and Bulstrode was prone to excessive worry. One night he couldn't sleep, disturbed over the state of his nation. His servant, observing this, said: "Pray, sir, will you give me leave to ask you a question?" "Certainly" replied Whitlock. "Do you think that God governed the world very well before you came into it?" inquired the servant. "Undoubtedly" answered Whitlock. "And do you not think that he will govern the world quite well when you are gone out of it?" "Certainly" affirmed Whitlock. "Then, pray, sir, excuse me: do you not think that you may trust him to govern it as long as you live?" said the servant. Whitlock smiled, he could not give any other answer than "good night" and fall fast asleep. The Lord desires us to give Him our anxiety and worry and in exchange He gives us His peace. Are you carrying worry with you? Today in prayer, give all your anxieties and cares to Jesus and rest in His peace. "Anxiety is the natural result when our hopes are centered on anything short of God and his will for us." - Billy Graham God's Word: "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?" - Matthew 6:25-27 ------------------- >From the Virtuosity Digest: David Virtue <> To subscribe direct - http://virtuosity.bizland.com
