This “Advent Conspiracy” video shows how by changing our spending habits at Christmas can have a huge impact on Third World people and their need of clean drinking water. Instead of buying Christmas gifts for our loved ones that they don’t really need, we can divert the money we would have spent to far needier people and give our loved one a certificate showing where the money has been spent. It throws the focus back onto Christ at Christmas and not the mindless consumerism which we have been massaged into thinking is ‘normal’.

After watching it you might think, well, what I need is a way of sending my money over to do something and I don’t know of any water programs offered by a mission society. The Really Useful Catalogue by TEAR Fund might be one way to doing it.
Their website is http://www.usefulgifts.org/ I think we are only limited by our imagination and our hearts as to what we can do in serving God in this way.

(Another I would recommend is World Vision).
