Art Ministry (Mark Tronson)

$10,000 PRIZE - ART MINISTRY

Basil Sellers one of Australia's arts benefactors formally announced a first place $10,000 art prize at the official opening of "The Basil Sellers Art Centre" at Australia's Bush Orchestra in Moruya, south coast of NSW on Saturday 17 May.

"The Basil Sellers Art Centre" consists of two galleries, the blue room being available for local artists to host solo exhibitions, the peach room has Reverend Mark Tronson's art, who was the Australian Cricket Team chaplain for 17 years.

Now Chairman of Well-Being Australia Dr Mark Tronson has developed an arts ministry:

"This annual prize illustrates Basil Sellers and my commitment as two Christian men, have to ministering within the community. But it's not the first of this nature, Christian Surfers have held a Jesus Pro Am contest with similar prize money for years" Mark explained.

International artist W. John Hackwell formally opened "The Basil Sellers Art Centre". As Basil Sellers held the gold ribbon, John Hackwell did the honours with the scissors to publicly open the facility.

John Hackwell described Mark Tronson's work as, "Art by instinct, in the tradition of reality and romanticism of the German and Swiss 17th century painters."

"Mark paints the world as he feels it, a dream like quality, he reworks suppressed ideals. His work is the poeticism and enchantment of the bible, it is healing art," John Hackwell explained.

MC Graham Scobie of Scobie Entertainment announced the first Friday of each month at 5.30pm is an arts community cheese and coffee cocktail function at "The Basil Sellers Art Centre", and that Youth Art classes led by art teacher Sylvia Dieck will be starting shortly.

Also, Mark and Delma Tronson's 25 years of Christian Ministry was honoured. Eurobodalla Mayor Pam Green and Deputy Mayor David Laugher also spoke of this milestone and their contribution to the local community.

Vic Matthews, Well-Being Australia's Bible Teacher gave the Occasional Gospel Address challenging everyone to consider that we are magnificent creations of God's handiwork, and that Christ's Salvation is the most wonderful act of spiritual recreation for every generation.

The Basil Sellers Art Centre at Australia's Bush Orchestra in Moruya is open every day hosting both Mark Tronson's art and six very large paintings which are not for sale, from the private collection of Basil Sellers.
