Rather than attacking Christians who refer to the use of the Koran by Muslim extremists, the Muslim associations of Australia should direct their attention to publicly rejecting the extremists themselves.
However, in this I suspect they may encounter a cultural obstacle. Those with experience in negotiations with Arabic communities will be familiar with the tendency of negotiators to agree with both sides. Apparently the agreement arises from a desire not to offend. Unfortunately, what begins as a desire not to offend, ends up being duplicity; and duplicity ends up being complicity.
If that seems a harsh judgement, consider the complicity of more moderate Muslims in Indonesia with the more extreme amongst them.
Some may say that Indonesian society is not Arabic, but despite it’s claims to be above culture and race, Islam appears to carry Arabic cultural norms with it wherever it goes.
