It would seem that nu-speak is alive and well.
If one doesn’t like something all one has to do is rename it to something else.
The same method can make all sorts of things sound evil.
Arrest and imprisonment = state-sanctioned kidnap.
Fines = state sanctioned demanding money with menaces.
School (making children work without pay) = state-sanctioned child slavery.
Correcting a child’s behaviour with a smack = child abuse or beating.
Correcting a child’s behaviour by telling them to stop = mental cruelty and
deprivation.
Correcting a child’s misbehaviour by keeping them in = unlawful imprisonment (but then
imprisonment can never be lawful by this set of definitions).
Believing that the practice of homosexuality is sinful = homophobia.
Is there really any justification for making up new words in order to say that
something is wrong. Anything, good or bad, can be redifined any way we like once we get
started on nu-speak.
