Two thousand years ago, in ancient Israel, the local authorities were preparing to stone a woman to death for her crimes. A mob had gathered and the people were getting ready to cast the first stone. Suddenly, Jesus stood up and said to the crowd, “Let any amongst you who are without sin cast the first stone.” Stones were dropped to the ground. An uneasy silence spread throughout the mob. Then, a woman near the front of the crowd picked up a large stone and hurled it at the victim. Jesus stood up again and shielded his eyes from the sun as he gazed towards the front of the mob. Identifying the stone thrower, Jesus said, “Mom! You’re ruining my show.”
