I'm not so sure.
I have been given the job of leading worship in our church on 25
April, Anzac Day. I preparation for this I have been thinking about
referring to some of the memorials on the walls of a number of older
Baptist church buildings in Brisbane.

I remembered seeing something about this on the *outside* wall
(usually these are inside, where worshippers can see them) of one of
the Orthodox churches in Brisbane.
Yesterday I paid a visit to the Serbian Orthodox Church in South
Brisbane, and found that my memory was not at fault.

On the wall nearest the footpath, and easily readable by anyone
passing by, is a memorial dedicated to those Serbians who lost their
lives in a battle, fighting in defence of their faith, and for the
freedom of the Serbian nation, and those who have lost their lives
subsequently. This was dedicated by the Australian head of the Serbian
Orthodox Church a number of years ago.

The battle took place against Turks in June 1389.
The place of the battle?
Kosovo!

The date of this battle is as firmly engraved in the minds of some
Australian Christians as 4 July 1776 is in the minds of some American
Christians.
So perhaps it *is* of some relevance to aus.religion.christian
