My mother slept days and worked nights as a nurse. She would come home early in the morning and get into bed with me or my brother as my father got out and went to work. Space in the bed was a bit limited, or we would not keep still, but she would only have one of us at a time, so we took it in turns. One afternoon we were on the bus home from doing some shopping and it was my brother who asked in a fantastically loud voice "Who's sleeping with you tomorrow, mum?" Perhaps kids don't change much.
