"Russell Waterson" <> writes: >There is one point missing from this: >IT IS WRONG! >Homosexuality is SIN! Actually, it's not missing, it's just got nothing to do with Nigel's point. This has absolutely nothing to do with Christianity, sin and so on. This is about a point of law. To draw an analogy, I believe that the law should codify a right to freedom of speech, including speech that God would not approve of. I'm with Nigel on this one. The law should recognise homosexual couples just the same as heterosexual de facto couples, for tax and superannuation purposes. The law should also recognise formal unions of homosexual couples. This is completely different to the question of whether or not the church should. >You may say that I am narrow minded, and that I am discriminating, That is >because I am but I do also discriminate against serial killers and rapists. ...and, no doubt, greedy people, and hate-filled people and atheists and Muslims... >Sin is sin and the Bible agrees with me! What does the Bible have to say about governing authorities? If your government decided to recognise homosexual relationships for tax and/or superannuation purposes, would you submit? After all, it's hardly preventing you from practising Christianity... >They should never be considered equal in relationship as a hetero couple. >They can not be considered married or defacto (also sin). >And such people should never be allowed in government! Why should the government play by Christian (or even "Christian" in quotation marks) rules? Or any other religion's rules, for that matter? Cheers, Andrew Bromage
