.... is a little like asking "are soccer players left handed?".
A better analogy might be the question "are
soccer players footballers?"
Some would want to argue that they are footballers,
by definition, because they play a form of football.
Some might even want to argue that they are the only
true footballers, as witnessed by the fact that more people around
the world play soccer than any other game.
Some would say that they may be footballers, but
it depends whether they really play the game properly, or just
fool around, or even belong to the club for social and business
reasons, or to get to the post- match booze ups.
Others would say that the only true football is aussie
rules, so soccer players are excluded because they refuse to obey
rule 2:38 (hold the ball firmly in both hands, and refrain from
kissing at all times on the field).
Then of course, there are those who believe that
the only true footballers are the Tasmanian water polo team......
or those who say that soccer players are 'false footballer scum'
because they have three referees instead of just one...
I could go on, but of course as an Anglican I'm only
interested in cricket.
Cheers
