With a similar faith to that with which we 'approach' Jesus the Christ,
except that he is the _primary_ object of our faith, the Bible is a
_secondary_ object...

One part of me wants to deal with this as I would any hypothetical
question...

It encourages us to 'hold on to Christ, and for all else be
uncommitted'. (Who said that? wish I'd said it :-).
