As you know, Graeme, I think you are 100% wrong in this,
and therefore disagree with the rest of your post which
is based upon this premise.
If your faith is based on a legal process, then it is
doomed. You have nothing to offer me or anyone else.
The Good News of the Christian Gospel is that we are not
reliant upon any legal process; past, present or future.
God’s love to us in Jesus proves that all is
forgiven. If we acecpt his love, then we are saved from
the consequences of sin. When we accept his love, it is
seen in our lives.
Your Gospel is based on an angry God who demands a
sacrifice in propitiation. That is why you are so quick
to condemn people who live and believe differently from
you, eg homosexual people and liberal Christians. In a
legal religion such as yours, the emphasis is on
‘getting it right’, and there are dire
conmsequences and eternal punishments in store for those
who ‘get it wrong.
The Gospel I preach is based on a God whose love is
above all and in all. It demands that I love others,
including homosexual people, liberal Christians, and
even fundamentalist Christians, with the same
unconditional love and acceptance that God has shown
towards me. In a religion based on love the details –
what we do, the language we use to express our faith,
etc. are secondary. The main question; in fact the only
one that really matters, is the question implied by
John 13:35. Can all people see the love of God in your
life?
cheers
