I do, or have in the past, regularly consulted:

- NRSV because I live around theologians and that's the one they tend to use. Also, my copy isn't made of tissue paper, so it feels much nicer to the touch. Oh, and my gospel synopsis uses the NRSV.

- NIV because I used to be in a Bible study group where pretty much everyone had the NIV so it was much more convenient. I also have a lot of tools (like a concordance, a couple of Bible dictionaries and a commentary or two) which are keyed to the NIV.

- New Jerusalem because I love the layout (not like the dumb Protestant bible layout; yes I'm a Protestant in case anyone thinks I'm knocking Protestants) and I like the study notes in my study edition.

- NKJV because it has the second-best set of footnotes that you can find and comes in a convenient paper form.

- The NET Bible (http://bible.org/) because it has the absolute best set of footnotes that you can find, and because I like the other bits and pieces on the web site.

- The CEV ("Good News") because my church at the time used it, despite my protests to the contrary.

- The KJV because I was really into Baroque-era poetry at the time.

- Nestle-Aland 26th Edition because it was given to me as a present by someone who wanted to make sure it went to a good home. Oh, and it's pocket-sized.

Cheers, Andrew Bromage
