Landover Baptists

First: from a Jewish friend:

Honestly, my jaw dropped! Meshuganeh goyim!!!

http://www.landoverbaptist.org/

Are they for real or are puttin' one on y'all?

Rowland, you're a Baptist, please explain?

Then these responses:

I went to the website and found, in small print at the bottom of their "Beliefs" page, that this website is a parody put out by Americhrist, Ltd. BTW, I lurk here and enjoy reading most of the discussions. Sue

It's a joke. They used to have a page somewhere on the site that explained that, but I think they found it more amusing to make people wonder.

But yes, it's a joke. After all, "Staff Member" Judy O'Christian has a "Doctorate of Spontaneous Theology" and you need to book visits to the church at least two years in advance at a cost of $50 per person. :-)

Rowland, you're a Baptist, please explain?

I am neither Rowland nor a Baptist, but I am American, and this site is directly mocking a certain kind of excruciatingly narrow-mindedness that seems to be very visible in the Southern Baptist Church.

I don't think that all Southern Baptists are actually entirely awful, but they do tend to be quite conservative and certain elements of that church (which is the second largest in the United States) are extremely vocal in a way that makes more moderate Christians cringe.

And now I'll be quiet and let Rowland speak on behalf of Australian Baptists, but I want to mention that one of my very best friends is an Australian Baptist, and he's pretty much all right. ;-)

It is a parody. But here is a much tougher one to figure out. Is this site a parody, or not?

It's parody, though it had me wondering at first. If you want to read pages of flames go to http://htmlgear.lycos.com/guest/control.guest?u=objectiveministries
