From a (liberal) netfriend: Those with evangelical beliefs would definitely label me as non-christian: I don't believe Jesus was divine. I don't believe that christianity is the only way to heaven/salvation. I don't believe in a virgin conception (Catholics believe in a virgin birth, we believe in a virgin conception, although we often use the term virgin birth). I don't believe in the inerrancy of the bible. I don't believe in Jesus' death as atonement. I don't believe in a physical resurrection. I DO believe that god is Love, and that living in Love is living in god. But--in spite of not believing all those things, which so many say are essential to christianity, I have fought evil spirits and won, and in the process removed someone from subjection to a satanic coven. So, by the reckoning of Jesus himself ("a house divided against itself will fall" Matt 12:25ff) I'm on his side. And frankly, I'd rather take his word for it than other people's. But ISTM that when people call me non-christian, *they're* not taking his word for it!
