Business Praise 19. People – Leave

I always look forward to vacation time

and a break with family. The opportunity to get out of a business suit

And feel the wind in my hair – we often go camping.

Perhaps it’s doing our own thing in a different place.

More likely, it’s the break in routine.

Did you ever have a holiday, Lord?

Legend says that you may have gone to Britain

with your Uncle Joseph. [1]

Was he a trader – businessman?

We don’t know for sure,

But you did need time out -

either on your own or with friends, [2]

Even if you did get interrupted.

When I go on leave next, may I come back refreshed,

Not just physically restored after a period of self-indulgence,

But warmed by being close to you.

I need to take you with me on leave, Lord,

So that you can make me really whole.

1. Legend tells us that the teenager Jesus may have come to Britain with his Uncle Joseph of Arimathea. This is the basis of the Hymn “And did those feet in ancient times”.

2. Mark 6 v 31,32.
