The Sales teams are the front line of our business,

People with energy and strong interpersonal skills,

Representing the rest of us in direct customer contact.

I know almost all of them, and have worked closely with them.

My task is to provide product knowledge,

And the vocabulary with which to secure a deal.

They need us in R&D too.

They’re earning my salary; I’m earning their pension!

We need to be a team. Perhaps we’re all in Sales.

In your business too, Lord, we’re all in Sales, [1]

Although some people have special gifts. [2,3]

We need to resource them and lift them to you.

Our Sales support is often weak or patchy;

We seem to have double standards -

Highly organised in business,

Yet weak in your service.

Lord help me to share my concern and expertise

To get this right.
