Sitting in a conference hall, bored. The monologue of technical words drones on

And my mind wanders.

Are other people genuinely interested, or just polite?

It’s just a minuscule part of your creation, Lord

And yet we see it incompletely, as though through a glass.

Our ideas will change next year,

Or next week. All transient!

You understood it all Lord, [1]

This apparently complex biology and chemistry,

Without the need for graphs, tables and statistics.

They are just human tools trying to penetrate

the elegance of your creation.

Your word says that “we are most wonderfully made”, [2]

And one day I’ll understand it

Without the need for scientific and mathematical analysis.

Perhaps I won’t be bothered.

I won’t be restricted by time and space then.

That’s all graphs and tables are!

The voice drones on. Question time now.

More questions unanswered, more areas of doubt.

I need to grow beyond knowledge

and into awareness.
