New studies emerging from Africa suggest that two thirds of the cases of HIV there are attributable to unsafe health care, according to the Royal Society of Medicine. See here: http://www.rsm.ac.uk/new/pr126.htm It would seem that things like contaminated medical equipment is a major problem. It seems the better access one has to healthcare in Africa, the more likely one is to have HIV.
